We have continued in this capacity, although legally, our existence is no longer required by Unica School and Hostel. Unica School assists the AFA by assessing children that we refer, and in turn, the AFA assists Unica School and Hostel with funding. A large percentage of our members are current and former parents of learners attending Unica School. Unfortunately, the needs of these adults are not always fully understood nor attended to at residential care facilities for the mentally and physically disabled. The Lethabo le Khutso (meaning “Place of Rest and Peace”) Adult Care Facility was established in 2000. The Residence and Respite Care Centre promotes, develops and sustains services for the welfare, training and education of adults on the Autism Spectrum.
